Browser fingerprint test
Even without cookies, the combination of signals your browser exposes can identify you across sites. This test computes a fingerprint from your browser — entirely on your device — and shows the data points that make it up.

What is browser fingerprinting?
Browser fingerprinting identifies and tracks you by combining dozens of seemingly harmless details — your screen size, time zone, fonts, graphics hardware, language settings and more. No single value is unique, but together they form a signature that's distinctive enough to recognise you across websites, even in private mode and even after you clear cookies.
Why it matters for privacy
Unlike cookies, a fingerprint is stored on the tracker's side, so you can't delete it, and there's no prompt to consent. Advertisers and data brokers use it to stitch together your activity. Because it's silent and persistent, it's one of the hardest forms of tracking to escape. Our article on tracking beyond cookies goes deeper.
How to reduce your fingerprint
- Use a browser with built-in anti-fingerprinting (Tor Browser is the gold standard; Firefox and Brave offer resistance too).
- Avoid niche browser extensions and custom fonts that make you stand out.
- Keep your browser updated so you blend in with the majority on the current version.
- Don't maximise uniqueness with exotic settings — counter-intuitively, looking average is what protects you.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the fingerprint shown here sent anywhere?
No. Every signal is read and hashed locally in your browser. Nothing about your fingerprint leaves your device or is stored by us.
Why does my hash change between browsers or after an update?
The fingerprint depends on the exact browser, version, extensions and settings. Switching browsers, updating, or toggling privacy features changes the inputs and therefore the hash — which is exactly how anti-fingerprinting tools help.
Does private/incognito mode hide my fingerprint?
Only partially. Incognito clears cookies and history but most fingerprinting signals (screen, fonts, hardware, canvas) are identical, so you can still be recognised. Use an anti-fingerprinting browser for real protection.
